Dr. Casey D’Arcy spent eight years in private chiropractic practice, where one of the most common questions she was asked was, “What pillow do you recommend?” The problem was, after years of struggling to find one for herself, she didn’t have a great answer.
In fact, she often recommended sleeping without one. For many people, no pillow meant less interference with the natural position of the head and neck—and consequently, less pain and stiffness in the morning. But it wasn’t a perfect solution.
So she decided to design the pillow she couldn’t find. After five years of prototyping, testing and manufacturing, OneSheep is finally available.
The idea behind OneSheep starts with something surprisingly simple: the shape of the human body.
The cervical spine has a natural C-shaped curve in neutral posture. When we lie flat, the back of the head naturally extends farther back than the upper back, while the space beneath the neck that actually needs support is relatively shallow. A pillow therefore needs to make room for the head while gently filling the smaller space beneath the neck—not simply elevate everything several inches off the mattress.
For back sleeping, OneSheep has a large central basin that allows the back of the head to settle into the pillow, paired with an elongated, shallow arch that supports the neck in a more neutral position. The goal is to support the cervical curve without pushing the head forward and the chin toward the chest.
For side sleeping, two large oval depressions cradle the entire side of the head and face, with a low-profile arch supporting the side of the neck. And because nobody stays perfectly still for eight hours, all three sleeping areas flow together in one continuous design. You can move from your back to either side without having to find the “right” spot on the pillow.
This is also why OneSheep is intentionally low profile. Traditional pillows are often simply too thick. On your back, too much height can push the head forward toward the chest. On your side, too much height can push the head toward the opposite shoulder. Very soft pillows can create the opposite problem—collapsing beneath the neck or allowing the fill to migrate away from where support is actually needed.
OneSheep takes a different approach: make space where the head needs space and provide support where the neck needs support.
The structure comes from the sculpted organic latex core, chosen for its responsive support and ability to return to its original shape night after night. The core is then enclosed in an outer casing filled with either organic wool or responsibly sourced down and feather, giving you the structure of an ergonomic pillow with the comfort and familiarity of a traditional one.
It’s made with thoughtfully selected natural materials, with no synthetic foam and no added chemicals.
The philosophy behind the design is simple:
A pillow should support you, not prop you up.
